Darrick was selected out of over 700 applicants statewide for a traveling scholarship for his thesis work at Texas Tech University. He chose to study the multi-sensual perceptions of space and place as well as an environment that is interactive with the neighborhood and the individual. With a deaf-blind clientele, he designed a series of group homes which could be experienced by and were appealing to all the senses. The traveling scholarship was used to present this thesis at an international conference for the deaf-blind in Denmark.
Garrett Bjork has joined Darrick and is an important part of the Bostad group. This small passionate team is dedicated to going beyond the visual appeal of architecture and into the sustainable and the multi-sensual realm of creating “place”. “Place for living”. This is what the Swedish term “bostad” means.
